Below a review published on De Bondt’s citrus “Agrumi” chocolate bars by blog ”Riccioli di cioccolato” (Curls of chocolate - www.ricciolidicioccolato.it); you may find the original article at link: http://www.ricciolidicioccolato.com/2011/11/de-bondt-citrus-fruits-chocolate-bars-agrumi/. Thanks to Emanuela for the attention she paid to De Bondt.
De Bondt is one of my favourite chocolate makers and I’m always excited when I get to try one of their creations for the first time, as I did with these Citrus fuits bars. [T]hey caught my attention with this particular flavour combination.
De Bondt was among the first to experience and spread bars with special spices and herbs such as mint, tea, bergamot, jasmin and rose. If there is a flavour worth trying, then Paul De Bondt has tought about it.
Citrus fuits bars “Agrumi”
These three citrus fruits bars are part of De Bondt‘s series of aromatic bars, called Special Bars: nine categories ranging from “Sensual” to “Crystals”, with 24 flavours altogether. Let’s taste them.
Orange/Mandarin Chocolate Bar: Trinitario chocolate 66% cocoa mass, scented with mandarin and orange essential oil and natural candied orange. Natural means a slow candying process, without bleaches, preservatives or added aromas. Citrus fruits flavour it perfectly maintained.
The dark chocolate workes well with orange and mandarin and invokes mediterranen scents.Bergamot/Lemon Chocolate Bar: dark chocolate, blend, 60% cocoa mass with bergamotto essential oil and natural candied lemon peel. A very special combination. As you might expect for a chocolate containing bergamot oil, this has a particulary and light perfume.
Lemon/Lime Chocolate Bar: dark chocolate, 64% Criollo cocoa mass comes from Madagascar (wonderful bright red colour, good acidity, scent of red fruits and a hint of smoke) with lime essential oil and natural candied lemon peel. The lemon is of course vibrant, zesty and immediately invokes visions of warm Italian summer days. Finalist at “Golden Tablet” awards in the years 2004, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010.
